We have two bursaries open to Gawler & District College students. The Alan Hickinbotham Bursaries which began in 2011 and we are pleased to announce the inauguaral Dr John Harbison Bursaries. Please read below for more information on the bursaries and to download application forms.

Alan Hickinbotham Bursaries

 

Information for potential applicants

The Gawler High School Foundation is pleased to invite applications for the 2013 Alan Hickinbotham Bursaries for internal or external Year 10 students entering Year 11 in 2013 and for Year 12 in 2014 at Gawler & District College (formerly Gawler High School)

There will be two Bursaries offered to the value of $1000 for each of two years ($2000 in total). The Bursaries will assist the recipient to meet school fees, books, excursions, school uniforms and other items directly aiding the student's education and approved by the Foundation.

The recipients will be required to follow the student expectations of Gawler & District College as well as attend and talk at Foundation activities during the year.

Applicants will present a portfolio which will include:

  • Personal Learning Plan or Intended Life Pathway
  • Two Referee Statements, one from a school staff member, one from a member of the community
  • Copies of Year 8, 9 and 10 school reports

Academic Information and Community Involvement will be considered in the selection process.

Interviews will be conducted.

The Bursaries will be awarded at the discretion of the Gawler High School Foundation.

The Bursaries will be presented at the Awards Presentation Ceremony on Friday 7th December 2012.

Dr John Harbision Bursaries

Information for Potential Applicants

The Gawler High School Foundation invites applications for the Dr. John Harbison Bursaries. The bursaries will be offered to students completing year 10 in 2012 and who have demonstrated a high level of sporting ability. Eligible students will live in Gawler or the nearby districts and will be attending any of the secondary institutions in the district. These bursaries will be available for study at the Gawler & District College in year 11 ( 2013) and year 12 (2014).

These bursaries are offered to support and encourage continuing participation and development in the student’s chosen sport while also fostering academic achievement.

Each bursary has a total value of $2000. A maximum of $1000 is available in year 11 with the balance being available in year 12. These funds will assist the recipient to meet the cost of school fees, sporting instruction and equipment, books, uniforms and other items directly aiding the student’s education and sporting development. Expenditure will be subject to approval by the Foundation.

Selection criteria will include (but will not be limited to):-

• Demonstrated sustained effort and achievement in education.
• Excellence in chosen sport ( team or individual) and future plans.
• Care, courtesy, and contribution within sporting and wider community.
• Service and leadership at present school.

The recipients will be expected to meet and uphold the Gawler High School standards of student behaviour. Short listed applicants will be invited to attend an interview to be conducted by the Foundation Selection Panel.

The Bursaries will be awarded at the discretion of the Gawler High School Foundation. Successful applicants will be advised in November 2012 and will be presented at the Gawler High School Annual Awards Presentation Ceremony on Friday 7th December 2012.
